Contact guide

Here's a helpful list of things I might want to know if you're feeling clueless as to what to
send me in your first contact:

Commission category, framing, and extras.
Characters, references, pose references, paint mockups. I do not design characters but I can work from many clear references of elements.
Mood of piece how do you want it to feel? triumphant, happy, angry ...
Budget, if you have a specific budget to stick to I can help form the commission in such a way it doesn't go outside your budget.
Billing e-mail if different from the one you are sending from.

After you have contacted me we can discuss your commission where we will come to an agreement of how the pricing is going to be. My prices are not entirely clear cut and set in stone, and can be discussed to some degree.

I will keep you updated with progress pictures, for you to feedback or comment on things to change along the way. I will also keep you up to date on if my ability to work on your commission is impaired by my private life.

When the commission is done you will receive a full size version of the image without compression artifacts or intrusive watermarks, and in any other sizes you may want.

Terms of Service

Please read the following terms before commissioning me. By commissioning me you agree to all terms listed below.

General

  • I reserve the right to refuse any commission for any reason.

  • I reserve the right to end a commission if you break professional conduct, or otherwise violating terms of service. This will lead to a refund, or partial refund if a significant amount of time has been spent already. I only do this in extreme cases.

  • I reserve the right to post the artwork on my social platforms for self-promotion, unless otherwise agreed.

  • I do not claim ownership over your characters.

  • Commissions cannot be used commercially.

  • You may not resell, or redistribute the art.

  • You may not create NFTs from my work.

  • The art may be uploaded to character profiles, galleries, and blogs with credit and any watermark, or signature may not be edited out. (Credit link to twitter @CM_Divt, or this carrd)

  • I work in, and around A4 size or larger with 300 dpi unless otherwise requested.

Payment & Changes

  • You may cancel the commission at any time up until work has started.

  • I do not offer full refunds once work has started. Circumstances dictate however if a partial refund can be given, depending on how far along the project is.

  • The accepted currency to send me is Swedish Crowns (SEK).

  • There are three valid payment methods:

  • (1) I send you an invoice through PayPal and add Domestic fee rate (3,4% + 3,25 SEK) to your final rate.

  • (2) Through PayPal to PayPal.Me/davidvason as [sending to a friend], NOT as [paying for goods and services].

  • (3) If you are Swedish I accept SWISH transfers.

  • I will give a final rate in SEK before starting for you to approve that will not change. Paypal will determine the final currency conversion rate for you to pay.

  • You may request changes during the process of the commission for free.

  • Large changes, involving but not exclusively, clothing, pose overhaul etc. will require a small fee, depending on the complexity.

  • Fixing any error that was clearly visible in the reference or otherwise communicated will be done for free.

You are not obliged to purchase a slot after contacting me if the price is not within your range, feel free to ask. I only ask that you let me know if you decide not to purchase a piece. :)

Styles and examples serve as estimation assistance. Some images may not
represent the final result accurately.

Sketches

Generally messy, unpolished and rough works. May come with basic grayscale / color fills.

Paintings

Painted sketch

A midway between a painting and a sketch, with visible sketch lines. Generally less messy.

Rendered painting

Further to the high end of the rendering range, these show little to no sign of linework and offer more fleshed out three-dimensional shading techniques.

Full: 1500-2000 SEK

Items

Item sheet with amount of choice. Can be done in any style of finish.

Price depends on finish, and complexity of item, can go above estimates. I estimate each commission separately to give the fairest price! :)

Estimates assume painted finish, like provided examples. I usually give discounts for more items in a package.

Character tokens/avatars for things like Dungeons and Dragons, and other tabletop games. Or profile pictures! Round, or square composition.

Friendsim talksprite

Most of the examples below are in various stages of being incomplete as I figured out the style,
some of the sprites are in sketchy stages. Or the backgrounds are messily colored.

The first 3 examples show 3D based background, which is to say that I create a 3D mockup of the background environment and draw on top of it to create more 'real' and 3-dimensional looking spaces. These require more effort, for a better result.
The bottom example shows a sketchy background that wasn't made using a 3D model as a base, although as it was only a test it's rather barren in decoration and cleanup.
